Treena Trent
Treena is serving Urban Hope by way of her Human Services education and experience. She has worked in the social services field in various capacities including benefit programs, subsidized childcare, behavioral health, substance abuse counseling, and more. Her experience comes full circle in this role as a Housing Counselor.
She offers a variety of perspectives to add to the process and looks forward to playing a part in the success of those seeking to advance in their efforts to secure affordable housing. Her own personal experiences with housing insecurity have equipped her to closely relate to clients in need.
Her career path took a turn after working for decades within the Commonwealth of Virginia, in departments such as Social Services, Child Support Enforcement, Department of Health, Virginia Department of Accounts, Department of Motor Vehicles, and the City of Richmond’s Department of Social Services.
In 2019, she adopted a ‘now or never’ energy that inspired her to take her love for driving to the next level; she resigned from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Department of Social Services, and hit the road for a new adventure.
After a short run in the transportation industry as a truck driver, trainer, then dispatcher, Treena’s dedication to serving as an advocate for people journeying through rough terrain led her back to the ‘helping profession’.
Treena enjoys creative writing, cooking, dancing, and is dedicated to her healing journey; She believes that “...as life can give us much to heal about, it is our responsibility to face the challenge and heal much!”
She says, “Having a place to call home is a major piece of peace, and it is my pleasure to play a part in helping others obtain and/or maintain that piece of peace.”
