Sarah Shaw
Sarah Shaw
Having grown up in the Richmond area since 2005, Sarah Shaw (the second Sarah to join our team!) brings a deep love for the city and a strong desire to see its neighborhoods flourish. She holds a B.S. in Organizational Leadership and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Her professional background also includes entrepreneurial work supporting nonprofits and businesses across the country through her graphic design business, Inklivity. Earlier in her career, she worked as a mental health professional serving the homeless community in Richmond—an experience that gave her a firsthand view of the wider impacts of displacement and deepened her commitment to stable housing and community restoration.
As the Marketing and Events Coordinator at Urban Hope, Sarah helps foster community in the East End of Richmond. Her role is part storyteller, part organizer, and part creative—gathering stories, designing tees, coordinating volunteers, and curating the narrative that connects tenants, donors, and partners to the heart of Urban Hope’s work. She enjoys taking complex ideas and making them clear and compelling.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys walks by the river with her boyfriend, Kimble, drawing, reading, and writing. Word on the street is she’s a gingerbread scone connoisseur by fall, strawberry-lemon cake baker by summer.
